TENA SmartCare

In this project, my primary focus has been on designing the user interface for two products: TENA SmartCare Identifi, designed to identify a resident's incontinence routines, and TENA SmartCare Change Indicator, which alerts users when a diaper requires changing.

Problem

Problem

The work environment for nursing staff is often demanding and stressful and it is often hard to keep track on when diapers is in need of change. Therefore, these TENA products needs to be easy to use and understand. This to give the user a tool to assist them in their work and, in turn, gives the residents a product that can improve their day-to-day lives.
Another important problem that we wanted to make better was providing residents with improved care while ensuring they aren't unnecessarily disturbed by nursing staff. This approach not only preserves their integrity but also creates a sense of comfort within an already vulnerable situation.

Within my role in this project, I was a member of a 3-person UX design team, and part of a larger team of approximately 20 people in total working on developing the software. My role included, UI Designer, UX Designer, Service DesignerUX writer and Translater

UI Designer:

  • Designing the user interface for both web and mobile app

UX Design:

  • Creating a workshop to help the team prioritize what to focus on

  • Creating validation tests before a release

Service Designer:

  • Contributed to the project's future vision by creating long-term goals and an ultimate end goal

UX writer:

  • Writing the copy in the web and mobile apps

  • Iterated text through user testing, and used ChatGPT to iterate phrasing and wording

Translator:

  • Managing the translation process before release

Approach

Design approach

Often, there was existing design for the pages we needed to redesign. Therefore, we chose to prioritize improving user-friendliness while incorporating the new features that needed to be included. We achieved this through continuous communication between the business side and the developers to determine the most effective way to design within the existing framework and user requirements.

Results

Results and learnings

With good communication and collaboration I have successfully implemented many positive changes. I have been designing and planning the interface changes together with my team for two upcoming releases and in that way helped out guiding the project in the right direction. I have managed to improve many pages throughout the apps which would make the platforms easier to understand and use and in that way also give the user and the residents a chanse for ever better care.

In this project there have been a lot to learn regarding working in a big team of 20, which involves a lot of communicating in the right ways and listening to and working around all the boundaries there is
